Herriman Hosts Ribbon Cutting for New City Hall
Herriman, Utah (September 22, 2017) — Mayor Carmen Freeman and other officials from Herriman, Utah, hosted a ribbon cutting on September 22 to celebrate the grand opening of their new city hall.
"This is the people's place. We are here to serve you, the citizens of Herriman," said City Manager Brett Wood.
Layton Construction began work on the new 68,000-SF city hall in April 2016 and completed the project in August 2017. The building was designed by GSBS Architects of Salt Lake City. The facility was planned and designed to meet both current and long-term needs of the growing city.
The new city hall includes all city offices, courts and Unified Police offices.
Layton is also working on the adjacent 10-acre Crane Park which is phase two of the project. The park will include an ice skating track, amphitheater, splash pad and other amenities. The park was named in honor of former mayor J. Lynn Crane who secured the site of the new Herriman City Towne Center several years ago during his time as mayor. He joined with Mayor Freeman to help cut the ribbon.
City departments began operating out of the new city hall on August 21.
